If you’re anything like me, just the word ” diet ” leaves a bad taste in your mouth–and that’s BEFORE all the green smoothies and tofu scrambles. Few things are worse than enduring a strict diet when all you want to do is eat normally and enjoy your food. lose
But what if there was a way to do so? Wouldn’t it be awesome to have the best of both words? Here are a few secret tricks to losing weight without changing your diet (much):
Organize Your Meals (and Snacks)
WHEN you eat is just as important as how much you eat. Chances are, a lot of your weight problems are due to large dinners and late-night snacking. Switch up your meal times: make breakfast your biggest meal of the day, even if you have to force yourself to eat. Have a decent-sized lunch, a small dinner (no more than 300 calories), and a mid-day and mid-afternoon snack (again, no more than 300 calories each). Do that, and you’ll give your body energy at the right time of day.
Eat More Raw, Colorful Foods
You don’t have to get rid of all of your favorite dishes; just make sure to eat more good stuff! Focus on the raw foods (veggies and fruits), and remember: the more color the better. These colorful foods are rich in antioxidants and nutrients that will boost your metabolism, improve your overall health, and increase your natural energy.
Get Out More
Even if you can’t spend hours in the gym, you certainly have time to get up from your desk or couch and get outside more. Take a walk while listening to a good audiobook, or spend time watching your favorite TV show while on the treadmill or stationary bicycle. On the weekend, make your activities OUTSIDE the house rather than lounging around all Saturday and Sunday long. The more you move, the more calories you burn–ergo, the more FAT you burn!
Know What to Cut
You don’t have to “diet” to lose weight, but it’s a good idea to cut all the unnecessary food items from your life. This means:
- Sugary foods
- High-fat and fried foods
- Anything artificial or processed
- Junk food
- Fast food
It may be a hard saying, but it’s worth it! All of these foods are just slowing your metabolism down, stopping your body from burning the maximum number of calories every day. By cutting them out, you’re giving your body a fighting chance at weight loss.
Why should you lift weights when you already run/jog/cycle/practice Yoga/etc.? Simple: more muscle = more calories burned every day. An increase in lean muscle mass will boost your metabolism, as muscles burn more calories than body fat. Lifting heavy weights to build muscle will guarantee better fat-burning, and the effects of your workout will last much longer.
Don’t bother with diets! Make these simple changes, and you’ll live a much slimmer and healthier life.
